It is ideally wired with a 250 Watt Metal Halide, High Pressure Sodium or Mercury Vapour lamp (175 Watt lamps can be used too) and its large refractor is designed to diffuse glare to comfortable levels and redirect light emitted over a very wide area. It has a mounting height to spacing ratio maximum of 1.8:1 i.e. distance apart to distance from the working plane to the underside of the fitting.

Features - Aluminium body with stainless steel diffuser retaining rim and clips. Body has an outer flange which allows for direct to ceiling recessing while the low profile diffuser clips will still operate to permit re-lamping from below. The fitting is finished in an extremely hardwearing powdercoat. The interior is similarly treated with a white high reflectivity finish to permit maximum diffusion. There is a safety link between the reflector and the diffuser assembly to facilitate relamping.

The optical chamber is fully enclosed by a special neoprene compressible extrusion which seals the refractor, rim band and reflector. The sealed optical assembly is then allowed to breathe through an activated charcoal filter which maintains the interior in an 'as new' condition even in the most adverse environments (IP65). The injection moulded Acrylic non yellowing refractor is retained in a stainless steel rim band secured to the reflector by low profile stainless steel clips allowing rapid lamp change from below.

Applications Metrolux has been evolved for those lower ceiling applications where the energy saving feature of H.I.D. fixtures is desired. The unit has been specifically designed to exploit the performance of H.I.D. sources up to 400W. It is suitable for surface mounting and recessed 'T' bar or plaster ceilings. The control gear is mounted within the body cavity and simply serviced by hinging down the refractor frame. A low profile ensures an unobtrusive appearance in limited ceiling heights applications and a shallow recessed depth for ease of installation where the ceiling void is restricted.

Metrolux is ideal for Retail Stores (recessed or surface), the Food Processing Industry (Metrolux is fully sealed and has Dept. Primary Industry Approval). It can be used outdoors under awnings (Service Stations etc.), in Cold Stores, Inspection Areas and even office lighting. Metrolux ushers in a new era in interior lighting, it provides the same amount of light for about half the cost compared to fluorescent and drastically reduces maintenance costs.
